Instant replay fof PSP owners at J-League soccer

 Sony is offering instant replays on its PSP portable console to fans at sport stadiums in Japan, starting this weekend with the J-League soccer competition's top teams.

The service will allow spectators to view the game live on their PlayStation Portable screens, as well as get access to slow-motion replays, highlights, match analysis and other data via Wi-Fi broadcast.

The system, developed by Sony Business Solution, will get its Japan debut at the Kashima Antlers stadium in Ibaraki, north of Tokyo on Sunday, in their match against top rival Nagoya Grampus. Kashima is offering some of its fans free use of a PSP for the game.

A similar system was tried out at English Premier League soccer team Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium in north London , with the necessary application available for download for 10 pounds sterling ($16). The service will be provided free to fans at the Kashima Stadium.

“Sony rents the system of cameras, recorder and broadcast equipment to the club, and they decide on the pricing structure or charges for the end users,” explained Yoshiko Uchiyama from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc in Tokyo.
“There are plans to expand the service to other clubs and different sporting events but they’re still under discussion,” said Uchiyama.
